Resolved Question: Can I make a vegan cheese with Sesame Seeds?

Hi, I've been looking at vegan cheese recipes on youtube like this one for example : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3FYduSF-dw and I noticed that many people uses cashews or cashews+pine nuts when they make their cheese.I prefer using sesame seeds instead of cashews but I don't know if it'll arrive out alright ? and I also wanted to know if I can receive a block of cheese if I use flaxseed instead of agar like in the vid ? .My recipe is going to be something like this: water [ maybe 1\2 cup] flaxseed[ 2 tsp] sesame seeds[ maybe 1\2 cup] yeast flakes [maybe 2 tbs-3tbs] salt [...1\4 tsp] onigion power[...1\4 tsp] turmeric powder for color[ maybe 1\4 tsp] lemon juice[2 squirt] I want to buy some of my ingrediants like yeast flakes on well.ca thanks Thanks Juilia S.I was afraid to use cashews because I thought that the cheese would taste like it.I didn't know that I have to avoid the skin ,no wonder the girl on youtube remove the skin of her almonds.I guess I should use tomato glue instead of tumeric so that the cheese won't only taste like cashews and I'll use more yeast flakes. I'll buy sesame seeds for now because the cashews are too expensive.I even thought of getting soy nuts but it is too expensive.

Resolved Question: Throat swelling!?!??! HELP!?

I had some noodle and spinach pasta at 8:20 this evening, and realized there were some sort of nut in it. I've never had anything like it and my mom said it looked like a pine nut. Anyway, after a few bites I felt like my tongue was swelling. It doesn't look like it is in the mirror, but it felt like it. I took an antihistamine, threw the relax out and brushed my teeth/tongue. Now, I think my mind is playing tricks on me telling me that my throat is swelling. I can still breathe fine and talk without hoarseness. I'm going on 23 minutes since I quit eating it. The "swelling" hasn't gotten any worse yet. I'm thinking I should stay away from pine nuts from now on. Is it my brain or real? Thanks britt. I just took a benadryl. :)

Open Question: are you aware that the FDA is outsourced?

so the next question of course... TO WHOM? Below is a letter I've sent to local tv stations and newspapers this week.... I’m writing today to inquire if anyone is willing to step up and publish news about Trader Joe and FDA and their Adverse Claims Departments. I woke up with a terrible taste in my mouth last Monday. I made an appointment with Ear, Nose and Throat doctor because I was certain something bad was going on inside the body. By the end of that day, a co-worked suggested that I google to look if anything was on the web. Turned out I had “pine syndrome” or “pine nut mystery” or “pine nut phenomenon” as it is known. Apparently since 2008, folks across the globe have been getting sick from eating pine nuts. A bitter taste where nothing is acceptable but water for close to a week. On the fourth day I coughed up blood. On the fifth and sixth days I had abdomen pain. At times it even felt as though I could feel my organs touching. I began with the TJ where I purchased the nuts. They referred me to their Headquarters in Monrovia. Headquarters told me that they had been aware since 2008 and had removed some nuts but not every. They told me that the only Claims Manager would contact me in 48 hours. When I heard nothing from TJ by Friday, exactly one week from the purchase of the pine nuts, I walked back into the local store and explained my plight. The manager there filed an Adverse Claim Report and told me that I should hear from someone. I have not. The incident did arrive and go in 8 days as the web predicts. The fact that no one contacted me is ludicrous. I contacted the FDA and filed the Adverse Claim Report with Call Taker 1. Call Taker 1 informed me that our governement outsourced that way therefore no names can be given. Now here is another story every together. Why is the FDA outsourced? To Whom? Call Taker 1 told me that I would have to send him a written letter with my information and willingness to pay for the “pine nut” records. I mailed the letter to them on Friday stating that I believe my tax dollars are working difficult as it is and that I would appreciate the report as soon as possible. Wrong is wrong and is never right. Who will stand for justice and print this news? sorry mikegolf...had to put the facts in there of how i know ya know

Resolved Question: WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY PUG?? HELP!!?

My female pug had puppies at two years old alough i disagreed with it. She had three puppies but one did not make it. At the moment they are still nursing although they were born on July,3 we have been weining them but still nurse every once in awhile. But we started to notice that she was losing hair. We though it was because of the pine sap from out trees pulling out her hair. But then she lost a massive chunk of her second coat on the top of her back. She's been acting really lathargic and sleepy unlike her normal self. Six months ago she had some internal bleeding in her intestines from something that she ate. She had a low blood count for awhile but then it came back to her normal amount when she had her puppies. So what is wrong with her, is she still bleeding or is it something else. We are bringing her to the vet later today but i still want to know what it might be it's driving me nuts! PLEASE HELP write something anything down I NEED to know!! Thanks to those who answer!!

Resolved Question: Which wedding favour would you prefer?

We are having a fall wedding in October yet we are not into the 'traditional' wedding decor styles like fall leaves & acorns etc. Our wedding will be colourful, fun, full of character & have some whimsical elements in it (button bouquets, converse sneakers, Blues Brothers inspired groom & groomsman attire etc.) I have most of the planning completed for our big day but my fiance & I are stuck on which favour to have at our wedding. If you were attending a Fall wedding in October @ a rustic pine log lodge which would you prefer... 1) Caramel Candy Apple 2) Caramel Corn 3) Cookies (caramel pecan nut etc.) 4) Mini bite size pecan pies 5) Fruit & Nut bars (3pcs. Dark, Milk, White chocolate assorted) 6) Maple Syrup, Honey, or Jam jars 7) Apple Cider mix with mini spoon Please answer with the number in which you would prefer. We are hoping that we can narrow down the list of these favours to end up with something that our 75 guests will adore. Thanks :D Thank you every for your comments! They are every greatly appreciated & I look forward to sitting down with my fiance & discussing more about which way we want to go with our favours :D I have narrowed it down to these two favours for guests without any allergies: 1) Caramel Candy Apple 2) Maple Syrup, Honey, or Jam jars My fiance & I will have to look into guest allergies as we definitely do not want any problems arising for any of our attending guests. We do happen to have a lot of peanut lovers on both sides of our families & amoung our friends so we may opt to have a secondary favour with nuts yet use extreme precautions when preparing, packaging, & presenting them. For these favours I have narrowed it down to these two: : 1) Cookies (caramel pecan nut etc.) 2) Fruit & Nut bars (3pcs. Dark, Milk, White chocolate assorted) If you wish, from the two choices listed for both favours, which would you prefer? Please let me know :) Thanks again everyone :P

Resolved Question: My boyfriend and I have a bitter taste in our mouths after eating?

Two days ago, my boyfriend and I went swimming in a pal's pool, and I think it had a little too much chlorine in it. Now, the two of us, after eating a meal, receive a bitter taste in our mouth, almost like chewing on brussel sprouts. I've been trying to find out the reason on google, and I'm thinking it could be one of two reasons, or maybe both. A couple days before that, I made pesto from scratch, using fresh basil leaves, roasted pine nuts, imitation parmesan cheese (boyfriend's dad is lactose intolerant), and olive oil. And a dash of sugar. (Came out great, I suggest it to anyone who would want to do this. Just mix equal parts parmesan and ground pine nuts to the basil and olive oil, then dash some sugar to clip the bitter taste). What I found on google was that it was either pine nuts, or it's the chlorine and our livers are working their hardest to filter it out. Does anybody else have any suggestions as to what this could be??? Or possibly point out which of my findings might be the reason? Note: Both of us smoke cigarettes, he smokes about 5 cigarettes a day, I smoke up to 10. Thanks.

Voting Question: bonsai masters please help me?

When my folks first moved into the home they live in now, I was 6. over the past two decades I've watched these two wonderful tiny blue pine trees grow larger and larger. Now they're talking about moving to a new home, and I would like to make a bonsai out of one of these trees. I don't intend to chop one down and try to fiddle with it, that'd be a bit nuts. However maybe an airgrafting or planting a cutting would work? What would be the best way to go about doing this? I'm not at every experienced with grafting or layering, the best I can do is from what I can read online and in books. I think it might be a blue spruce not pine

Resolved Question: ok...what IS going on in America?

So I woke up Monday morning with a terrible taste in my mouth. I thought something was terribly wrong so I made a doctor's appointment. Later that day a pal suggested that I google "waking up with terrible taste". Lo and behold were pages and pages of links for "pine nut syndrome". turns out I had just eaten almost a whole bag of them in the past thirty six hours. Monday night I was coughing up blood. Tuesday night abdomen pains on the left side. My first call was the store that I purchased them, Trader Joes. The gal suggested I contact their headquarters because there was nothing they could do. She gave me the number and I immediately called. The gal there said yes they are aware of the issue ever since 2008 but because it is so random and such a mystery, they are not required to remove products. Ten people could eat from the same bag and only one or a handful would be affected. This was not the resolution I'd hoped for. The next morning first thing I contacted the FDA to report an incident. The lady asked me a couple of questions and when I asked her name, she told me she was not allowed to giver her name. So I proceeded and called her Miss. She said that I needed the Adverse Claim Department at which time she gave me the number. The man that answered replied "I'm sorry we cannot give names because we are outsourced party but I can give you my Call Number 1. I thanked Call Number 1 and proceeded. I asked how I could look what other complaints were out there against pine nuts. He directed me to the link on the FDA site to find the directions for mailing a letter with details of yourself and claim to them in Maryland. Then it says to please advise them of the willingness to pay for said records. America!! Are you Alive? I then typed out the letter following instructions and told them that I believe my tax dollars are already working difficult enough as it is. Outcome remains to be seen. And for folks that like pine nuts and recipes with them such as pesto, be careful not to every buy them at Trader Joes in America. Site said few other places but that those companies had already pulled the product from shelves.

Resolved Question: My husband will turn me on and then we won't have sex. Is there anything I should be doing to change this?

Well, first of every I want to start by saying that I know that I have a better situation going for me than some, because I know that my husband DOES want me and/or wants to have sex with me. I don't want to seem ungrateful for the connection I have. Here is the thing though: We have sex, on occasion. Maybe once or twice a month. He tries to make it out as though I'm just not there when the time is right. (i.e. "I had this huge boner this morning and I was wishing you were there, but you were at work.") When I AM home or out he doesn't want to do anything. He doesn't like having sex before we go to bed, partly because he's already taken a ton of Loritabs for his back pain, another part either stress or sleepiness. Speaking of sleepiness, he has problems getting to snooze without snooze aids, but when he does snooze he is out of it until after 12 or1 in the afternoon. There is no way that I can time it just right to be home when he wants it. I have an 8-5 job, some days he doesn't even go to work till 5. It's just frustrating! Getting to what my question was, on the rare times where we actually receive any bit intimate, he is just a total tease. Like yesterday, we were spending the weekend with a pal and asked me to go with him into the room while he took a shower. Well, we went in the bathroom and he started kissing me every over, feeling up my breasts, ect. Then he gets in the shower. Since I had already had a shower, put on my makeup, and we were about to go to dinner with his pal, I didn't receive in. He just left me pining. As he was getting out he told me that he would "do stuff" to me later. I knew that would mean either eating me out, fingering, ect. I asked him, "Do you think you could receive off?" He just said, "I don't know. Maybe." That makes me feel like there is nothing I can do. On top of that, we didn't even do anything last night. His moods change so constantly I always feel like I have to take advantage of the moment or nothing will happen. But "the moment" even the ones where we do other things happen so infrequently and at the worst times imaginable that I never end up getting anything...much less getting laid. I am 25, and super sexual. I adore my husband and have trained myself to receive less than I am expecting because I hate to ask, but this is driving me nuts. Even on our one year wedding anniversary, a week ago, we didn't have sex. every the elements were there. We went to the beach, stayed in a swanky hotel that we had always wanted to stay, I even spent a ton on this lingerie that I had thought he would like...and then...nothing. I mean, we tried, but he couldn't receive it up. I found myself getting mad at him, then upset, and just cried myself to snooze. I think to myself, maybe I'm being greedy...but it just hurts my feelings that I can't be intimate with the one person I adore more than anyone else in the world. I don't feel like I can make him feel good, that we can connect physically, and it starting to make me feel like less of a good wife because of it. I know it probably has to do with every of the medication, but I don't think I can do anything about it...and there is nothing I can do about stress and I've tried for years to make him glad enough to the point were he doesn't need depression medication. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about that. He has even told me that. It's just who he is. What can I do from here? Is there any solution or is it just going to receive to the point where we are never going to have sex ever again?

Resolved Question: how many colries did I consume?

Okay, so usually I never focus or count callories, but recently I've been interested in how many I'm suposed to, and do, consume. I'm 19 years old and over a month ago I gave birth to my first kid, a little boy, Orlando Zebedee Lopez <3 I have always been focused on eating healthy, organic food, as it's how I've been brought up, so when I wanted to loose some wheight, instead of counting calories or starving myslf, I just eat a couple of celery sticks instead of a bar of chocolate. I'm about 1 meter 65, and wheigh about 55 kilo's. I'm a size 8 to 10. Anyway, I wouldn't know where to start counting if I wanted to count callories, so I thought I would ask it on here. Sorry if I can't give the exact wheight or size of the food, and you therefore can't give an exact amount, but that's fine, it doesn't have to be exact. Anyway, over the past 2 days, this is what I've eaten - btw, every the teas and coffees are without sugar and with soya milk instead of cows milk, since I'm alergic to cows milk. I'm also vegetarian. And I do every my cooking with coconut oil, not olive oil. Also everything, or almost, is organic and many of the fruit and vegetables are home grown. Wednesday - 6.00 ish - A slice of cucumber, a cup of frozen peas and 3 cups of coffee. 8.30 ish - A tiny bowl of goats yoghurt with some muesli. An big glass of mango and something or other innocent smoothie and a cup of tea. 11.00 ish - two squares of my boyfriends bar of galaxy chocolate. 2 cups of coffee. 14.00 ish (2pm) - a cup of frozen peas. 2 cups of coffee. 14.30 ish (2.30pm) - two plain pancakes with some fried vegetables. no sugar. (a savoury dish) 16.00 ish (4pm) - one cup of frozen peas. one coffee. later, a nectarine, z cups of coffee. 18.30 ish (6.30pm) - a bowl of spaghetti with sun dried tomato pesto. 19.30 ish (7.30pm) - a cup of frozen peas. 4 slices of celery woth some tomato ketchup. 21.00 ish (9pm) - a cup of frozen peas and a cup of coffee. later, a slice of fresh, home made, marm olive bread (bread with tiny pieces of clip up black olives) without butter. One cup of coffee. Thursday - 7.30 ish - 40g of poridge with soya milk, blue berries and sliced apple. One cup of tea and one cup of coffee. 9.30 ish - a slice of watermellon. 2 cups of coffee. 12.00 ish - (in starbucks with friends) a jam doughnut, i capucino, 1 frapecino (yeah i know I didn't spell the last 2 right :P 14.00 ish (2pm) - one plain rice cake. 2 cups of coffee. 15.00 ish (3pm) - a bolw of cherry tomatoes, half a slice of olive bread, no butter. and one difficult boiled egg. 16.00 ish (4pm) - half an apple, 2 cups of coffee. 17.30 ish (5.30pm) - stir frie with tofu and pine nuts. 19.00 ish (7.pm) one capucino. 20.30 ish (8.30) some brazil nuts, one coffe. later, 2 more cups of coffee, one cup of frozen peas. I'm quite a fussy eater, so I may leave tiny things on my dish like the raisens in muesli, the egg yolk of an egg, the top half of a slice of water mellon, and it things like a slice of bread, but I don't like butter, so I eat it without. and also if something lookes a bit weird, or just doesn't look quite right, I'll leave it. However, this is a more or less plan of what I ate over the last 2 days. so far this morning I've eaten a cup of frozen peas and tiny frozen carrots, and one coffee. How many calories in that? Also, every the times that I'm not eating, like when I'm running erands, going to shops, visiting friends, helping on farms, doing home work, walking rounds markets, doing yoga, walking to the park with Orlando, driving up to London and a million other things, I usually alsways have a can, bottle or glass of diet coke by me. I think I drank about 5 littres over wednesday and thursday, but since its diet coke, and doesn't contain many callories, I thought I wouldn't wright when and where I drank this. Thank you very much if you can answer every my questions, and sorry if it's not very accurate! Thankx anyway, Rory x btw I don't want to lose wheight, I'm just curious xxx <3 sorry it's so long, but I though I should detail everything x
